This is a unique opportunity to meet with Manly Art Gallery & Museum Senior Curator Katherine Roberts and broadcaster Jim Haynes to experience the exhibition Destination Sydney: The natural world (Merran Esson, Fiona Lowry and Joan Ross) and talk on Seeing Sydney Harbour – Australian Women Artists.
Your special experience begins with an enlightening forty minute visual presentation by author, historian and entertainer Jim Haynes OAM, who will introduce you to some of the works in his collection by Australian women artists who have depicted Sydney Harbour over the past century. Through their eyes, you will observe views of interest, atmospheric renderings and the significance of this key piece of water to the story of Sydney.
After a break for morning tea and chance to ask questions, Katherine Roberts, Senior Curator, Manly Art Gallery & Museum, will guide you through the story and highlights of the current Destination Sydney: The natural world exhibition, featuring a fascinating collection of ceramics, paintings and digital media by contemporary artists Merran Esson, Fiona Lowry and Joan Ross.
